Story about trolleys Cart quotes stainless steel trolleys
Cart quotes stainless steel trolleys. Trolleys are being increasingly dumped in a Noarlunga Downs reserve
A NOARLUNGA DOWNS reserve is turning into a shopping trolley graveyard, says local resident Martin Skeates.
Mr Skeates said each week he noticed more stainless steel trolleys dumped along two walking tracks that run off Liguria Crescent.
“I have been walking around here for the past five weeks and there are more and more each week,” he said.
“The walking trail leading past Cardjin College has dozens of them strewn all along it.”
The reserve is about km from the Colonnades Shopping Centre.
Mr Skeates said he had reported the problem to Onkaparinga Council but was told it was up to the owners of the trolleys to retrieve them.
“They just keep piling up and it is a real blight on the area,” Mr Skeates said.
“I think it would be a good idea if the council took them back to their depot and sorted it out with the supermarkets.”
When the southern Times Messenger visited the reserve last week there were dumped trolleys.
A spokesman for Coles, who would not be named, said contractors collected abandoned trolleys in the Onkaparinga region for seven hours a day, each day of the week.
He said dumped trolleys can be reported at .
“We’ll strive to collect them within hours,” he said.
A Woolworths spokesman, who would not be named, said they also used contractors to locate abandoned trolleys.
Woolworths’ trolleys can be reported at www.xedayinox.com or by calling .
Onkaparinga Council director city operations Kirk Richardson said the council had written to supermarkets about dumped trolleys.
“In all cases we ask residents to report dumped trolleys directly to the store or supermarket involved,” he said.

Fox News spotted the photos that were posted by Arnold Angelini, a witness to the situation. They show a small Peugeot improperly parked at a COTO supermarket in Temperley, Argentina, which is in the Buenos Aires Province. Several lines of shopping carts were stacked and placed around the car as a prank for not following the rules.
The caption, roughly translated, is showing disapproval of the person who parked in the shopping cart area and is applauding the employees who decided to get their own version of justice. For more details and a few quotes from Arnold, head to Fox.
